The Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Competition

The Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council is a non-profit organisation founded in 1908 who promote the highest standards in jewellery making, goldsmithing and silversmithing. Each year they hold a competition, with around 30 design briefs to choose from hosted by different companies within the jewellery sector. Our apprentice Nicole is entering this year and has chosen the Fairtrade brief.
Neil, himself having won this prestigious award three times, once with gold and twice with silver, has passed on his knowledge to Nicole through her apprenticeship with him following her degree. Using techniques she has been taught, she created a beautiful and ethical piece using CAD to design the ring.
Nicole had chosen the Fairtrade brief to highlight a cause she was passionate about - saving the bee population and their habitat from further destruction. Every element in the ring is well thought out and symbolises an important issue for the plight of the bees.
We are hoping Nicole does well in this competition, and think that her piece is both striking and thought-provoking.
